Four climbers from the K2 North ridge Expedition reached camp 4 today and are preparing to go to the top of the second highest mountain in the world. Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, Maxut Zumayev, Vassiliy Pivtsov and Darek Zaluski reached the 4th camp at about 7950m. They will need to climb to 8611m to reach K2’s peak.
They climbed in perfect weather from camp 3 to camp 4. The conditions were good for climbing too with only the occasional patch of deep snow. They reached camp 4 at about 4:30. Zaluski filmed during the climb up to camp 4.
Tomorrow is expected to be near perfect weather again and the same for much of this week. The winds are expected to be light.
