North Ridge Expedition make first steps towards K2

The North Ridge Expedition have trekked from advanced base camp to the depo camp on their way to K2. They had spent a number of days at advanced base camp waiting for the weather to improve.

This will be their final attempt on K2. The camels will arrive next week to take them back. All of the camps are setup. It will be a matter of how difficult it is to get up K2 this time and the weather on summit day that will help to determine the outcome.

Below is a screen shot of where Maxut Zumayev is from his GPS.

The expedition consists of: Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, Ralf Dujmovits, Tommy Heinrich, Darek Zaluski, Maxut Zumayev and Vassiliy Pivtsov. Kaltenbrunner, Zumayev and Pivtsov have all climbed 13 8000m mountains and need to climb K2 to complete all 14.
