Maxut Zumayev reaches 7100m on K2’s North Ridge

It look like Maxut Zumayev has achieved what he wanted today when he  reached a height of about 7100m on K2. At this height the North Ridge Expedition wanted to make camp 3. The aim for tomorrow will be to establish camp 4 at about 8000m.

The expedition consists of: Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, Ralf Dujmovits, Tommy Heinrich, Darius Zaluski, Maxut Zumayev and Vassiliy Pivtsov. Kaltenbrunner, Zumayev and Pivtsov have all climbed 13 8000m mountains and need to climb K2 to complete all 14.

Maxut  has updated his website to say that they have setup their camp at this height. Tomorrow they will split the group into 2. One group will climb higher and setup camp 4 at 8000m. The other group will go down to camp 2. The weather should ge good again.
