Terrain map shows where the expeditions are on the Chinese and Pakistan sides of K2

A terrain map has been created by myself which brings together both Maxut Zumayev’s map from his GPS and Alex Txikon’s map from his GPS. One can expect that most of the other climbers in their respective expeditions are not far away. This is data taken on the 3rd August.

Txikon’s GPS data is taken from the Cesen route on K2. Whereas Zumayev’s GPS data is from the North Ridge of K2. It is clear from this that the climbers on the Cesen route have made much more progress than those on the north ridge. With less climbers on the north ridge to help lay ropes and break trail and a steeper climb, they seem to be having harder conditions than those on the Cesen route.
