Maxut Zumayev has reported seeing K2 change in appearance as a storm raged higher up. The top of K2 had seemed to be soft with snow before the change in the weather. But now it has a more scary appearance. It looked more like a shell without the previous covering of snow. It was if the mountain was preparing for a storm ahead. From above 7000m, he said, it looked like the snow had gone from the mountain.
He said that they would likely rest for 4 to 5 days now instead of 2-3. This is because of the expected bad weather over these days. The aim next time will be to setup camp 3 and then camp 4 at about 8000m. Then at some stage will be an assault on the summit.
