Louis Rousseau pulls out of Goeschl’s K2 expedition

Louis Rousseau has had to pull out of the next phase of Gerfried Goeschl’s expedition to the Karakoram: climbing K2. Their expedition made the summit of Gasherbrum 1. Unfortunately for Rousseau he did not make the summit of the 8000m mountain. The day before he laid the groundwork for the others to make the summit. On summit day he did not have the energy to make the last few hundred metres.

Also taxing him would have been 2 rescues in the last few weeks. He sees K2 as being much more technical and demanding. He believes that you have to be physically and mentally fresh to tackle it. Instead he is leading a group of climbers to climb Gasherbrum 2.

This would mean that there would be Gerfried Goeschll and Alex Txikon at least in this group who are meant to go to K2.
