Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner has updated her website with an article and photos from the climb to camp 2. This is the story of her climb up K2’s North Ridge for a few days from the 12th of July.
After starting the climb to create camp 2 both Kaltenbrunner and Ralf Dujmovits realized that there was an avalanche danger and decided to bivouac at a safer sport. This would allow the snow to settle. She said it took 14.5 hours to get from the bivouac to camp 2 the next day at 6600m. Only she and Dujmovits stayed at camp 2 that night while the others went down. That night they melted snow and fell asleep about midnight.
The next morning they abseiled for 2 hours down to camp 1. Then made their way to advanced base camp.
