Jet stream causes some expeditions on Broad Peak to rethink their strategy

The British Broad Peak expedition have had to cancel their summit push up Broad Peak because of the strong winds. Above 7500m the wind was too strong for them to go from camp 1 to camp 2.

The weather predictions at the moment, they say, are not looking good for another summit push anytime soon. They are just hoping for better forecasts ahead.

Other expeditions, they say, have also decided to change their plans on this mountain. Two of the commercial expeditions there have decided to leave base camp.

What this means for the expeditions on K2 time will only tell. But chances are they are also being affected by the strong winds.
