Map of North ridge expedition progress so far

Maxut Zhumayev has been carrying a GPS device so it has enabled his progress to be mapped in Google Maps. So far it shows that they have progressed to near 6200m.

Maxut said that they are hoping to establish a camp at about 6200m. The intention was to go back to base camp after this and await for another weather window. They might continue past this point though

The picture below is a screen shot from their route up the north ridge of K2 in Google Maps. It is courtesy of Maxut’s Kazpatriot website. I’ve added text for the summit of K2 and what he calls the first camp. The first camp is at the start of the ridge. The second camp could be located soon just above the red line where it is now. At the moment it is below 6200m. Ropes would have been fixed the whole way.
