Weather holds up expeditions

On both the Chinese and the Pakistan sides of K2 expeditions have had to stay away from climbing because of the poor weather. On the North side of K2 they have been having rest days. This team consists of Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, Ralf Dujmovits, Tommy Heinrich, Darius Zaluski, Maxut Zumayev and Vassiliy Pivtsov.

On the south side of K2, Fabrizio Zangrilli and Kinga Baranowska have also had to wait in their tents till the weather clears. They look outside their tents very early in the morning to see if there is a weather opportunity. But each time they do they see a clouded K2.

Baranowska has said on her website that they were the only 2 one the Pakistan side of the mountain – her and Fabrizio – till a new arrival. But Bruno Bochet has arrived to make it 3 on the Pakistan side. He is an English Professor and has been giving her some English lessons where she has difficulty. There have been visa problems with some of the other climbers. Thus at the moment it appears that there are more climbers making attempt than on the Pakistan side of K2.
