Expedition slowed temporarily as photographer went missing

The expedition to the North Ridge of K2 was slowed because a member went missing in the village of Kargilik. Photographer Tommy Heinrich went to take some photos in the village but became separated for a time without others knowledge. They had to wait to find him again, which was about 3 hours.

Maxut said that there will be about 40- 60 camels that will be needed when they start travelling with them. Each of these will carry approximately 80kgs. They will be essential for the expedition not only for their ability to carry this weight but to also cross the Shaksgam River . He said that at the beginning of summer, which it is now, it is possible to cross this river. In the middle of summer though it is impossible to cross.
