Expedition sets off from Kyrgyzstan

Maxut Zumayev has reported on his website that members of the North Side expedition to K2 have arrived in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner, Dujmovits and Darius Zaluski arrived from Moscow by plane in Bishkek. He said that an American that was supposed to travel with this group could not make it because of visa problems. But also added that this would not impact the expedition.

Maxut mentions that they were able to get Chinese visas in this city. They bought climbing equipment for the expedition ahead also.

They then travelled 600km to the border with China. This is where the Turugart Pass is.
