Kazakhstan climbers Maxut Zhumayev and Vassily Pivtsov have left base camp today and are at camp 2. This is at 6300m. They said the weather is holding. Tomorrow they are heading to the third camp at 7100m.
They have been climbing during the early hours of the day so as to avoid the rockfall that seems to increase with warmer temperatures.
This must be a summit attempt as they have acclimatized.
