Memorial for Fredrik Ericsson held

David Schipper has been updating Fredrik Ericsson’s website. He has been in contact with Fabrizio Zangrilli and Field Touring Alpine to find out more information about what has been happening.

On Monday he reported that there was a memorial for Fredrik Ericsson held at K2. This occurred at the Gilkey memorial not far from base camp.

Gilkey passed away in 1953 on K2 and since then there has been a memorial setup in his name for those that have died on K2. It is a stone monument. On it are placed metal plates with the name of the person who has died engraved onto it.

In all likelihood there was a metal plate made with the details of Fredrik Ericsson on it and placed on this memorial.

He also reported that Trey Cook came down safely from camp 4. He said that it was a very difficult return down the mountain.
