Fabrizio Zangrilli has called Field Touring Alpine to describe the climb from camp 3 to camp 4. He said that they had to go much slower than expected. This was because the climber above was knocking loose rocks onto the climbers below them. This means that they have less time to prepare than they would have liked. But the summit push is still on for midnight.
Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner will among those going for the summit tonight. She will be attempting to climb her final 8000m mountain. Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner’s husband Ralf Dujmovitz has turned back and is now at base camp. Meagan McGrath who was feeling unwell is also at base camp. She survived a rock falling onto her helmet.
Conditions are expected to be good when they attempt the summit. But they are prepared for conditions where visibility is reduced.
