Giuseppe Pompili has reported that conditions may be favorable for making the summit this year. Those that have been to C3 and above have reported that there is less snow higher up the mountain than in 2009.
In 2009 it was really the deep snow that in the end prevented many climbers from reaching the summit on their final attempt.
Having said all of this though, it is not really till they reach the shoulder that the climbers will know how deep the snow will be on the final day. From the lower camps it may be impossible to judge how much snow is up near the Traverse and bottleneck.
