Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner arrives at base camp

After an unsuccessful attempt of K2 Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner has made it back to the base camp of K2. She will not try again this summer.

This must be disappointing to her because she would be aiming to be the first woman to climb 14 8000m mountains. At the moment she has 12. However, it has been a good season for her because she made the summit of Lhotse.

Eun-Sun Oh recently made her 13th summit of the 8000m mountains. And at present looks the most likely to be the first woman to reach all 14. She has yet to climb Annapurna.

Kaltenbrunner still has K2 and Everest to go to complete all 14 8000m summits.
